5. Location and place data
UrbanFavs does not collect precise GPS location at launch. UrbanFavs may collect approximate location based on IP address and may use map functionality. UrbanFavs does not save user location history at launch.
Approximate location is determined by looking up your IP address against a geolocation database stored on our own servers. Your IP address is not sent to the database provider for this lookup.
UrbanFavs may use open map data to display place and business information, including business name, address, region, and business category. This data is loaded onto our servers in bulk, so browsing places does not report your activity to the data providers.
When you search for an address while adding a location, the text you type is sent to our geocoding provider so it can return matching addresses. We do not send your name, email address, or account identifier with those requests.
The providers behind this data are credited in the "Data sources and attribution" section of our Terms of Service.
6. Cookies, analytics, and similar technologies
UrbanFavs uses a small number of first-party cookies. Some keep you signed in and keep your account secure. One helps us count unique visitors so we can understand how UrbanFavs is used. We do not use advertising cookies.
Our usage analytics are first-party only. We do not use Google Analytics or third-party advertising pixels such as the Meta, TikTok, or LinkedIn pixels, and we do not track you across other websites. See the Usage analytics section below for details.
Visitors in the EU and UK are asked to opt in before we set the analytics cookie, using the cookie banner shown on a first visit.
7. Email and SMS communications
UrbanFavs may send transactional emails related to your account and activity. Transactional emails may include verification emails, password resets, follower alerts, list save alerts, featured list notices, and other account or product-related notices.
UrbanFavs may also send marketing emails. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting support.
If UrbanFavs offers SMS/text messaging, we will send SMS messages only where consent is obtained or where otherwise permitted by law. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency may vary. Users may opt out by following the instructions in the message, such as replying STOP.

- Legal, compliance, or professional advisors
- Law enforcement, courts, regulators, or other parties when required or permitted by law
- Other parties in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction
UrbanFavs does not sell your personal information and does not share it with advertisers. We use our first-party analytics only for our own internal product and business decisions.
9. User-generated content and public sharing
When you create public content, that content may be viewed, shared, indexed, displayed, or promoted publicly. Public lists may be featured in UrbanFavs emails, city pages, social media, promotional materials, and product experiences.
If you share an unlisted list link, anyone with that link may view the list and may share it with others.
10. Data retention
UrbanFavs retains information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, operate the business, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent fraud, improve security, and maintain records.
When you delete your account, your profile will no longer be publicly visible and your lists will no longer be visible. UrbanFavs may retain certain information in backups, internal records, security logs, legal records, and business records.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No system is completely secure, and UrbanFavs cannot guarantee absolute security.

UrbanFavs is not directed to children under 13. Users under 13 may not create accounts or use UrbanFavs. During registration we ask you to confirm that you are at least 13 years old. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13 without legally required consent, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Usage analytics
We collect first-party, aggregate usage analytics to understand how UrbanFavs is used — things like page activity, list shares, shared-list views, and saves. To count unique visitors we store a randomly generated identifier in a cookie. We never sell or share this data.
We derive an approximate, city-level location from your IP address for regional insights. The lookup happens on our own servers and your IP address is not stored — only the coarse location.
We use these analytics only for our own internal business decisions — we never sell or share your data. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we honor it as an opt-out of any future sale or sharing of your information.
